Marlon, a third-generation coffee grower, rediscovered his passion for coffee after initially pursuing a career as a pilot. Inspired by a friend’s export idea, he immersed himself in the coffee industry—studying barista skills, production, and cupping through SENA. His dedication led him from experimenting with new varietals on his family’s farm to becoming Colombia’s 2024 national cupping champion. Now preparing to represent Colombia in Geneva, he focuses on promoting his coffee and guiding his family toward specialty coffee production and markets.
What we're tasting...
We are big fans of the Pink Bourbon variety (which after genetic testing by Cafe Imports was revealed to not be a Bourbon at all). It is crisp, bright, lively, and delicate. The flavor profile is unique, but not in a wild way. This coffee really shines with its acidity: it has a high acid content but does not veer into overly sour or sharp territory.
